ROAD SAFETY INFRASTRUCTURE

Achieving the vision of eliminating deaths and serious injuries from the Nation’s roads may seem daunting. The Safe System Approach is being applied with great success in several nations and cities around the world and has now taken hold in the United States. Numerous transportation agencies across the United States have already begun to implement and institutionalize Safe System principles. While these agencies are at different stages of implementation, they all have pivoted to this approach to make positive and significant differences in safety.

Creating a Safe System is a journey that will take time, commitment, and collaboration across disciplines. The Federal Highway Administration and its stakeholders across the transportation community are acting now to advance the Safe System Approach, making decisions guided by the underlying principles, and promoting implementation across the Nation.

As the United States advances along the journey to implement a Safe System to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries, everyone is a stakeholder with an important role. REEB looks forward to helping in this effort. We welcome the opportunity to work closely with you to provide barriers and related road safety product packages tailored to stay within your budget and be completed on schedule. Reeb Building Systems is the exclusive Pennsylvania Manufacturer Licensee of Precasteel Stay-In-Place Fascia Forms (SIPFF) for Bridges. Stay-in-Place bridge panels are a new product that is an L-shaped piece of precast concrete designed to stay in place and serve as a form for the bridge deck pour and subsequent barrier pour.

The SIPFF panels increase worker safety on bridges during construction and have an aesthetically pleasing finish. The SIPFF panels were initially designed to improve productivity, but it turned out that the conventional method of installing parapets was causing safety headaches. Designed by a bridge engineer, the SIPFF panels allow crews to work safely from the bridge deck. Each panel is equipped with two ties, is designed to withstand all anticipated construction and OSHA loads, and at 42” tall from the soffit top, eliminates the need for fall protection and, creates schedule time savings.
