Lombard Commons is an existing 40,000-square-foot, 3-story building that was originally a cigar box factory that dated back to the early 19th century. It is located in Dallastown Borough, York County, where the senior population has risen by over 43% since 2000, creating a crisis for seniors seeking affordable housing.
The building was recently restored and renovated by Woda Construction Company, transforming the building into 43 affordable senior housing units for ages 62+ located in a mixed-use neighborhood close to downtown and along a bus route. The project includes supportive services for residents and is financed by a mix of state and federal funding, as well as private equity.
Reeb Building Systems was responsible for the complete framing scope of work that included: structural repairs to the existing post and beam construction, structural infill of existing elevator shafts and old stairwells, and the construction of a new stairwell in the original building. Reeb also completed the framing scope of work in the 8,300-square-foot new addition to the existing building, including the trusses and windows.
